Fun with the new Gravel Bike – Norco Search XR Carbon

I recently sold two bikes. First I sold my Opus Stelle cyclocross bike and then I sold my Giant Rainier mountain bike. I also sold my Garmin Vector 2 Pedals. All these funds helped offset the purchase of a new Norco Search XR Carbon Force 1 gravel and bikepacking bike. The bike has 650B tires with 2.1″ width. They are a lot of fun. I bought the bike at Full Cycle at their new shop in Hintonburg at 7 Hamilton Ave. North in Ottawa. Many friends that I’ve known for over 25 and some over 30 years own the shop so I felt a deep sense of loyalty toward them. Their service is great and the Norco is fantastic!

This morning I added some trail and off-road hill repeats to my ride. Here are two videos I captured during my ride.

Notre Dame Organ

I captured this recording of the organ playing in the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris in March 2018.

It was so sad to see this wonderful world heritage site in flames today.

Here is a photo I captured a few minutes before we walked into the Cathedral to enjoy the remarkable and austere interior.

Grade 1 School Rebel

I rode past my old grade 1 school this morning. I was only at this school for a few weeks. Despite being 6 years old I was strong willed and didn’t want to attend this school. I wanted to attend the French school closer to home where my sister was.

I hid under these steps to avoid being called into school when the bell rang. And after all the kids were inside I walked along the highway (about 4.5 km) back to my neighbourhood and played in my backyard or friends’ backyards until school was as out.

Well… that didn’t last long until my mother met with the school boards and eventually I got my way and was accepted into the French school to be closer to my sister. @ Aylmer, Quebec
